FRIDAY (11/3): UW Madison Student Union w/ Nestle [FREE]

We are psyched to return to the birthplace of Lovely Socialite this week – the UW Campus.  Years ago, we spent the night in the UW Music building cramming in our last rehearsal for Ben Willis’ senior bass recital.  This was our first official gig as Lovely Socialite.  This Friday, we’ll return to the campus EIGHT YEARS LATER.  Holy shit, Pat’s getting old…

I mean, look…first Socialite baby and the kid is 3/4 of the way through a year…

Felix will be signing CDs at the show.

…we’ll be sharing the stage with Nestle (Rob Lundberg, Cyrus Pireh, and Ryan Packard) who are a very fantastic improvised/experimental trio.  We’re looking forward to it.

This Friday we’ll be playing at the High Noon Saloon in Madison with two great Brazilian bands, Wolbaianos and Metabaque.

From the official Facebook event for the show:

Come celebrate the opening night of the 2016 Summer Olympics at the High Noon Saloon! Consisting of some of Madison’s top Brazilian musicians, Wolbaianos will perform its first concert by bringing you the classic Brazilian album Acabou Chorare, by Novos Baianos, as well as a handful of other songs from the Brazilian popular music canon. Metabaque and Lovely Socialite will kick off the night with delightful tunes to groove to.

Released in 1972, Acabou Chorare, by the Brazilian popular music group, Novos Baianos, has endured as one of the most seminal and widely-loved albums to ever come out of Brazil, topping Rolling Stone’s list of Top 100 Brazilian albums of all time. The album combines various Brazilian music styles and synthesizes them through the psychadelic Tropicalist lens that was dominating Brazilian music at the time.
Listen to the album here:

Tickets are 10$ in advance or 12$ day of the show. Show is 18+
Tickets can be purchased at

Wolbaianos are: Jacob Wolbert, Elena Wittneben, Will Zolecki, Tom Ross, Richard Hildner, Kevin Knapp, Matt Manske, and John Beard

If you’re looking for a happy hour activity before this show, head to the Cardinal Bar from 5:30 to 7:30 to catch Josh Pultorak and the Madison Choro Ensemble! That show promises to be fantastic and if you haven’t caught the Choro Ensemble before, it is highly recommended that you see them.
