This Friday we’ll be playing at the High Noon Saloon in Madison with two great Brazilian bands, Wolbaianos and Metabaque.
From the official Facebook event for the show:
Come celebrate the opening night of the 2016 Summer Olympics at the High Noon Saloon! Consisting of some of Madison’s top Brazilian musicians, Wolbaianos will perform its first concert by bringing you the classic Brazilian album Acabou Chorare, by Novos Baianos, as well as a handful of other songs from the Brazilian popular music canon. Metabaque and Lovely Socialite will kick off the night with delightful tunes to groove to.
Released in 1972, Acabou Chorare, by the Brazilian popular music group, Novos Baianos, has endured as one of the most seminal and widely-loved albums to ever come out of Brazil, topping Rolling Stone’s list of Top 100 Brazilian albums of all time. The album combines various Brazilian music styles and synthesizes them through the psychadelic Tropicalist lens that was dominating Brazilian music at the time. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acabou_Chorare
